Story
Left-wing journalist Sadık (Fikret Kuşkan) falls gravely ill after being tortured during the September 12, 1980 military coup. Having lost his wife during childbirth, Sadık is forced to take his young son Deniz (Ege Tanman) to the Aegean countryside to leave him with his estranged father Hüseyin Efendi (Çetin Tekindor), from whom he has been separated for years due to political differences. The film tells the heart-wrenching story of a father and son reconciling through the eyes of little Deniz, who melts the ice between his father and grandfather. It powerfully portrays the social and familial impact of the 1980 coup, the search for individual identity, and the responsibility of fatherhood. Featuring colorful characters including the grandmother (Hümeyra), the estranged aunt (Şerif Sezer) and the innocent uncle (Yetkin Dikinciler), the film became one of the highest-grossing dramas in Turkish cinema history.
